2015’s great start reflected in magazine
New Zealand football is off to a great start in 2015 with high profile matches and achievements at all levels of the game, says supporter group Friends of Football.
That success is reflected in the winter issue of FANZ, New Zealand’s free digital football magazine, which is now available online.
The magazine previews the FIFA U-20 World Cup, the planet’s second biggest football tournament, due to start at the end of this month, and profiles U-20 coach Darren Bazeley.
To highlight the FIFA Women’s World Cup, which starts next month in Canada, FANZ has the story of a group of women who donned boots and football kit to pioneer the game in New Zealand in 1921.
The cover story brings readers up-to-date with a busy Ricki Herbert who has been working for FIFA and coaching in India since leaving his coaching roles with the All Whites and the Wellington Phoenix. Despite his work overseas, Herbert says he still has a contribution to make to the game in New Zealand.
FANZ was launched last year as a quarterly magazine which serves as the official publication of Friends of Football, an independent supporter group that aims to recognise footballing achievements and preserve the game’s heritage in New Zealand.
The winter edition is the third issue of FANZ.
