Friends of Football supported the Macular Degeneration NZ race day at Ellerslie races, taking one of many tables at the successful fundraising event. Many football identities were present, with former All Whites coaches John Adshead and Allan Jones past ambassadors of the charity.

Attendees included New Zealand Football chief executive Andy Martin and a number of former All Whites including John Houghton, Earle Thomas and Alf Stamp who was visiting New Zealand from his Sydney home with wife Rae.

Macular Degeneration will threaten the sight of one in seven New Zealanders over the age of 50 and the charity aims to raise awareness so that the condition is identified early, enabling treatment.
