Special screening of The Keeper
Friends of Football are to host a special screening of the critically-acclaimed feature film The Keeper, the story of footballing Bert Trautmann.
Trautmann – famous for helping Manchester City win the 1956 FA Cup despite breaking his neck during the match – is the subject of this moving story of his journey from German soldier to British hero.
Admission to the screening (at the Rialto, Newmarket, in Auckland) is free to financial members Friends of Football.

Bill MacGowan Memorial Golf Tournament
Update: Friends of Football advise that the inaugural Bill MacGowan Memorial Golf Day has been postponed from its scheduled date of May 30.
For a variety of reasons, the date was proving difficult for many football and sports groups whose members wanted to honour Bill’s memory with a round of golf at Waitemata Golf Course.
Instead, Friends of Football plan to incorporate their tribute to Bill with their annual charity golf day to be held later in the year (and after the winter football season has ended!).
We’ll announce details of that event later this year.
Our thanks to those who did enter the May 30 event and we’re sorry for any inconvenience. The event organisers will be in touch to refund entry fees.
