New football magazine launches
A new football magazine launches this week in New Zealand – and it’s free.
FANZ: The Football Magazine is a digital magazine published by Friends of Football.
The magazine, which will publish at least four times a year, can be found by clicking the cover:
The first issue is 44 pages and includes coverage of our national sides, award-winning photographs from the recent football media awards and columns. Record-breaking All White Ivan Vicelich is the cover story and the issue’s main feature is a nostalgic look at football’s former headquarters, Newmarket Park.
Friends of Football chair John Morris said his group was keen to use the magazine to bring supporters of the game together in a positive way.
“We want a magazine that celebrates what’s good about the game. We believe FANZ reinforces what our group is about – building heritage and recognising those who help our game to succeed,” he said.
The magazine launch caps a busy year for Friends of Football who last month staged a highly-successful Celebration of Excellence event which incorporated the annual football media awards with speakers such as NZ Football CEO Andy Martin and All Whites coach Anthony Hudson.
Morris said Friends of Football already has several events lined up for early 2015 including a lunch before the WaiBOP United v Team Wellington match at Cambridge in January, a BBQ at Newmarket Park (which has been rehabilitated into a recreational park) and a day at the races.
