Football fans have plenty to choose from if they want to get to a Good Friday game in the upper North Island.
Half a dozen fixtures in the new-look Northern League offer some strong match-ups while three Lotto NRFL competitions provide plenty more.

Thursday
Start the long weekend with a Thursday night match – there are two women’s games to choose from – either Northern Rovers’ game against Eastern Suburbs (Ngahue Reserve) or Western Springs hosting Auckland United at Seddon Fields.
Friday
The Auckland City v Manukau United match at Kiwitea St (3pm) catches our eye with Kevin Fallon’s team no doubt smarting from their opening day 5-3 loss to Melville United.
For goals, we’re tipping Melville to keep finding the net when they meet Northern Rovers. Jama Boss scored four on opening day and could be the early pacesetter for the competition’s golden boot.
