Ferns goalkeeper Erin Nayler to join newly-promoted Swedish club

Football Ferns goalkeeper Erin Nayler has agreed to join Swedish club Umeå IK FF after leaving English club Reading.

The 29-year-old ‘keeper will head to Sweden to compete in the 2022 Damallsvenskau season after Umeå’s promotion to the competition after winning the Elitettan (Swedish second division) last season.

Nayler has enjoyed a much-travelled career since learning her football at Auckland clubs Lynn-Avon United, Forrest Hill Milford and Eastern Suburbs.

In 2016, she signed for United States team Sky Blue (now known as NJ/NY Gotham FC) before signing for French club Olympique Lyonnais Féminin.

In 2017, Nayler joined French club Grenoble Foot 38 before spending three seasons with Bordeaux.

Last year, she was signed by Reading but only made one first team appearance.
