Want a piece of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 at your club?
New Zealand Football has opened expressions of interest from clubs wanting to participate in its redistribution programme for field of play equipment and training equipment used during the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Football clubs are invited to submit expressions of interest for a share of equipment worth about $400,000 and supplied by FIFA to the 32 sites for the tournament.
FIFA-provided equipment includes boxed and portable goals, free kick mannequins, hurdles, ball pumps and pressure gauges, ice boxes, agility cones and poles, speed ladders, ice machines and ice baths, ice boxes, yoga mats and massage tables.
“The intention is to redistribute assets across more football clubs than are Team Base Camps, to widen the legacy reach of the tournament,” says Paula Hansen, New Zealand Football General Manager WWC, Legacy and Inclusion.
“Sixteen football clubs throughout New Zealand have received a range of upgrades to playing surfaces, changing rooms and floodlights, so those benefits are a legacy that will be felt for years to come.
“New Zealand Football is committed to ensuring that the legacy impact is felt throughout the country. Distributing the international standard training equipment used by World Cup teams at the training and match sites is one way we can continue to play it forward.”
A female pathway and commitment to growing the female game, female representation on club boards or committees, and a plan to retain and increase female participation are all areas that will be considered during the redistribution process to ensure the legacy of the FIFA Women’s World Cup is used to recognise clubs where gender equity is a focus.
