The Wellington Phoenix have been knocked out of the Australia Cup, losing 1-0 to South Melbourne in the round of 32.
The Australian side scored in the 4th minute through Harry Sawyer and though the Phoenix had almost 70% possession for the game, they could not break down a well-organised Melbourne South defence.
Meanwhile, Canterbury’s Coastal Spirit continued their unbeaten season with a 3-1 win in the semi-final of the English Cup.
They will meet the winner of the second semi-final, due to be played on August 20, between Cashmere Technical and Christchurch United.
