New Zealand international defender Liz Anton has left Perth Glory to join Canberra United for the new women’s A-League season.
Anton (25), who has played 21 times for New Zealand, was a member of the 23-player Ferns squad for the FIFA Women’s World Cup but was an unused sub in all three group games.
With 62 A-League appearances for Glory over four seasons, Anton brings experience to Canberra United, head coach Antoni Jagarinec said.
“Elizabeth brings a presence to the position of central defence and has the streetwise nous that comes with having competed at the top-level for a long time. I am sure she will be a popular player amongst our fanbase,” he said.
Of her new club, Anton said: “The team is well-known throughout the competition for being a place where they play attractive football, have a passionate fanbase, and really get behind the team, and I am looking forward to experiencing that in green.
“I have fond memories of Canberra throughout my playing career and am looking forward to creating more at the club.”
Anton joins New Zealand teammate Ruby Nathan at Canberra. Nathan (18) signed a new contract with the club in August 2024.
