Applications sought by NZ Football Foundation for new board trustee

The New Zealand Football Foundation (NZFF) seek applications for a new trustee for their board.

NZFF are an independent charitable foundation established in 2010 with a capital fund received [through New Zealand Football] from FIFA as a result of the All Whites qualification for the 2010 World Cup.

Their goals include distributing funds to projects to support the growth and development of football in New Zealand and raising and investing funds to grow the capital base.

The current funding criteria include a focus on women and girls and communities who have limited access to social and economic resources and opportunities compared to the general population.

They have a strong capital fund of about $6 million, overseen by seven trustees and a chief executive (based in Auckland), who collectively provide a range of professional experience.

The foundation is looking for a new trustee to join its board of trustees.

This individual will bring diversity of experience to the board, commercial and marketing skills, and wide network connections to enable the board to achieve the goals of the foundation.

The New Zealand Football Foundation trustee position will appeal to those with a passion for making things happen, a desire to give back, and have the experience and energy to bring about change in the charitable sector.

Football experience is not a prerequisite.

Ideal applicant

Desired skills and experience for the NZFF Trustee role include:

  • Management/governance experience — understanding of a small business environment, charities or equivalent organisations.
  • Marketing and communications experience, website and social media.
  • Strategic thinking with a future focus.
  • The ability to provide contacts for philanthropic and commercial partnership funding is desirable.
  • An understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi is desirable.

Applications from women, Tāngata Whenua, Pasifika and other ethnicities are encouraged.

Remuneration

The role is voluntary.
