Former Wellington Phoenix striker Roy Krishna has been named the Players’ Player of the Season at his Indian Super League club, Bengaluru FC.

The Blues are celebrating a season in which they reached the final of all three major competitions in which they competed.

Fijian captain Krishna (35), playing this season on a one-year contract, scored 10 goals and claimed six assists in all competitions.

Bengaluru manager Simon Grayson said:

“It’s been a fantastic season, and one that we can all be really proud of.

“It was great to have the BFC family come out and celebrate what is an unbelievable achievement.

“I’m really proud of this bunch of players and staff, and now is the time for them to rest and recharge their batteries. I’m looking forward to working with them for next season already.”

Before signing for Bengaluru, Krishna had discussions with the Wellington Phoenix about a potential return to the club, and he was linked with Mumbai City, coached by former Phoenix coach Des Buckingham.

He trained with Auckland club Manurewa early last year before heading to India in late July.
