Six stalwarts of Auckland football have been honoured by Central United who have bestowed life memberships on them.

They join the list of 19 other honorary life members at the club, recognised for their contributions to the club.

They are Colin Cook, George Franich, Mitch Herceg, Michael Marinovich, Paul Posa and Nardo Yugovich.

Friends of Football congratulates them and joins with other football supporters in recognising their contribution to our sport.

Meanwhile, another life member, Mate Tolj, is the club’s new president following its annual general meeting in December.

Tolj joined the club in 1967 and has held every role on the club’s committee during the past 55 years.

He replaces Ivan Vuksich as president at Central United, while Vuksich has been re-elected chairman of Auckland City FC for an 18th year.

Vuksich told Auckland City’s website: “Mate, like myself, considers Kiwitea Street to be his second home. Central United FC runs through his blood and I couldn’t think of a better person to take on this role now.”
