Football Ferns striker Jacqui Hand has signed for Finnish club Åland United for three months.

The club which plays in the Kansallinen Liiga, Finland’s top women’s league, won the Finnish Women’s Cup in 2020 and qualified for the UEFA Champions League in 2021-22 but were eliminated in the first qualifying round.

Auckland-born Hand (23) played school football for Mount Albert Grammar School and started her club career with Eastern Suburbs before heading to the United States where she joined the Colorado College Tigers in 2018.

She made her debut for the Football Ferns against Canada in 2021 and scored her first international goal, against South Korea, last November.

Hand was selected for April’s two-match series against Australia but withdrew from the squad after a positive COVID-19 test prevented her from travelling to join the side.
