Two goals from 15-year-old Emily Lyon clinched a 2-1 win for West Coast Rangers against second-placed Western Springs under the Friday night lights at North Harbour Stadium.
Rangers had to come from behind for the win which helps them re-attach to the leading bunch of four teams in the Lotto NRFL Women’s Premier League.
Springs took the lead in the 17th minute through Sofia Garcia and the teams went into the interval with the score 1-0.
Lyon, who has played for Rangers since she was 11, levelled the score two minutes into the second spell.
She then broke the deadlock with six minutes of the match left to provide her side with their fourth win of the season.
For Springs, the match was an opportunity lost in their efforts to catch league leaders Northern Rovers.
Though they remain in second place, they are now three points behind with Rovers having two games in hand.
