Palmerston North Marist are out of the Chatham Cup after being found to have played an ineligible player in their second-round cup win against Island Bay United.

New Zealand Football has ruled that instead of losing 4-3, Island Bay will de deemed as the 3-0 winner of the tie played on Saturday June 4, 2022.

In a statement, New Zealand Football said:

“While New Zealand Football understands this was a genuine error by the team, New Zealand Football does not have any discretion when it comes to decisions on eligibility, based on previous precedent set and advice from the NZF Disciplinary Committee.”

In the third round, Island Bay United will host the winner of the rescheduled Waterside Karori v Miramar Rangers fixture.
