All Whites head coach Danny Hay says the 0-0 draw against Oman “served its purpose” and it confirmed for him who will be his best 11 for the FIFA World Cup play-off against Costa Rica.
In an interview with Narelle Sindos for Newshub, Hay said the Oman game provided some players with an opportunity to show what they could do.
As an example, he said Marko Stamenic had what he thought was a disappointing 45 minutes against Peru last weekend but had played well against Oman.
Hay said the squad now has the chance for three or four training sessions ahead of the Costa Rica match which kicks off in Doha next Wednesday morning (NZT).
