Central United beat Papatoetoe in top-of-table NRF Championship match-up

posted in: News

A goal by Sam Lloyd was enough to get Central United a vital win against NRF Men’s Championship leaders Papatoetoe.

The 1-0 victory at Murdoch Park moved Central to within three points of their title rivals but with a game in hand.

After turning around scoreless, former Eastern Suburbs youth player Lloyd broke the deadlock in the 69th minute.

Third-placed Te Atatu kept in touch with the two leaders, winning 3-2 at home to Uni-Mount Bohemians, but South Auckland Rangers lost ground by falling to lowly Ranui Swanson under lights on Friday.
