Central United have moved to within three points of NRF Men’s Championship leaders Papatoetoe after beating Ranui Swanson 3-1.

Playing under Friday night lights at Starllng Park, Central needed the win to stay in touch with Papatoetoe who on Saturday evening play in the championship’s only other scheduled fixture of the weekend.

Sam Lloyd got Central’s effort underway with a goal midway through the first half, and they took that lead into the half-time break.

Lyle Lazarus doubled the visitors’ lead just after the hour when he scored from the penalty spot.

With 10 minutes left, Alex McGregor made sure of the points for Central when he stretched his side’s lead to 3-0.
