posted in: News

A scorching start inspired Te Atatu to a 4-0 win against Birkenhead United in the only fixture of the weekend in the NRF Women’s Championship.

Te Atatu raced to a 3-0 lead within the game’s first 10 minutes, and the result was as good as in the bag thereafter.

Playing at Te Atatu Peninsula Park, the home side scored after three minutes through Bronwyn Caples.

Two minutes later, Rebecca Gage doubled Te Atatu’s lead.

In the 9th minute, Jolyn Collins stretched the lead to 3-0.

An Angela Byrne goal just before the break gave Te Atatu a 4-0 lead at half-time.

That’s how it stayed in the second spell, with Birkenhead proving to be more resilient.

Te Atatu move up a couple of places on the table while the loss sends Birkenhead to the bottom, on goal difference.
