Papakura City move into third spot with Friday win in NRF Men’s Championship

Papakura City have jumped two league placings with a 2-1 Friday night win at Ranui Swanson’s Starling Park.

The South Aucklanders moved into third place of the NRF Men’s Championship with the win.

Cory Mackay put Papakura ahead with a penalty in the 19th minute.

The sides turned around with the visitors holding their 1-0 lead and for most of the second half, it looked as though that would be enough to settle the affair.

But a flurry of late action was Papakura go to a 2-0 lead through substitute Cooper Hart in the 88th minute.

On full-time, Mohammed Haj pulled back a goal for Ranui Swanson but it was too little too late for the home side who stay three off the bottom.
