Auckland City move to within five games of an unbeaten 33-game season

posted in: News

Auckland City are just five games away from achieving the dream season — a trophy treble and the chance to go all 33 games unbeaten.

Already, the Navy Blues have won the Northern League, unbeaten in their 20 games so far.

On Wednesday (August 17), they play Tahiti’s AS Vènus in the final of the OFC Champions League, having won their four tournament games to reach the final.

And on Sunday (August 21), they host Wellington Olympic in the semi-final of the Chatham Cup, having won four ties to reach the last four in football’s oldest club competition.

In little more than three weeks, Auckland City could be aligning three trophies in their Kiwitea St cabinet, and celebrating a season unbeaten.

The side has two remaining fixtures in the Northern League, against Western Springs and Auckland United.

If they remain unbeaten in those games, City will have gone through an undefeated league campaign for the fourth time in the club’s history (they previous achieved this in 2011-12, 2015-16 and 2018-19).

Here’s the potential fixture list, if City stay on course:
