Henderson hat-trick helps Waikato Unicol to complete unbeaten season

posted in: News

A hat-trick from Reuben Henderson has inspired a 5-0 win by Waikato Unicol over West Hamilton United to complete the team’s unbeaten season in the WaiBOP Premiership.

Playing at their Jansen Park home ground, Unicol finished their season eight points ahead of nearest rivals Otumoetai and with an impressive record of 62 goals for and only 11 against.

Henderson led the way in the final game, scoring twice in the opening quarter of the game, to give Unicol at 2-0 lead at half-time.

Substitute Riley Rigden started the second half with two goals in the first six minutes he was on the pitch, stretching Unicol’s lead to 4-0.

Henderson completed his hat-trick in the 74th minute and the side kept the clean sheet to end their season on a high.

Bottom-placed Hamilton Wanderers defaulted their last game of the season, giving Ngongotaha a 3-0 win.

The default did not affect either side’s position on the final table.
