Lottery tickets already generating clubs revenue — and ‘ticket frenzy’ is extended

posted in: News

Seventeen football clubs have already sold enough World Cup Lottery tickets that they’ll share $25,000 in grants generated by our sport’s biggest-ever fundraising project.

And lottery organisers, the NZ Football Foundation, have extended their invitation to clubs and schools to take part in a ‘Ticket Frenzy’ for another weekend, from Friday September 2 — Sunday September 3.

Clubs and schools that reach 50% of their total target of sales for the entire project will go into a draw to win prizes such as a signed Chris Wood shirt, a signed Football Ferns shirt and a high quality VR headset.

The foundation says some clubs were innovative in how they encouraged ticket sales during last weekend’s 50-hour frenzy.

“We loved seeing some clubs embrace this last weekend, offering interaction with their top teams or additional draws for club vouchers etc. to show that they are invested in wanting to grow grant funds for the club.”

Clubs and schools have a month to sell lottery tickets for $20 each, of which $10 goes back to the club/school chosen by the ticket buyer.

Eight lucky winners in the lottery will get a trip for two to Doha, with return flights courtesy of Qatar Airways, with 13 nights’ accommodation and tickets to attend the following group games:

Games you’ll see are:

  • Germany v Japan
  • Costa Rica v Germany
  • Wales v Iran
  • Spain v Germany

How it works

Tickets cost $20 and are purchased online from the foundation.

When you buy your ticket, you get the chance to nominate a participating club or school and they get $10 of the purchase price.

You can choose FRIENDS OF FOOTBALL if you wish to show your support for us, and to encourage what we do for the football community.

The funds raised will be put back into football through our Helping Hands Fund — click here for more details >>>>

How the lottery helps football

Clubs and schools are participating in the lottery which is the biggest national fundraiser ever by our sport.

The bold initiative is being promoted by the New Zealand Football Foundation in an effort to unite the football community, including about 400 clubs and schools, in a three-month effort to raise funds.

Participating clubs and schools have the potential to raise up to $900,000 between them.

Clubs and schools can still join the project by emailing [email protected].
