Hibiscus Coast reach men’s federation cup final to continue winning season

Hibiscus Coast continue to have a season to remember.

Having won the Lotto NRFL men’s second division title and the NRF Women’s Championship, the club’s green and white colours will also feature in the region’s men’s knockout cup final.

Coast have reached the final of the NRF Men’s Federation Cup and will play the winners of the Uni-Mount Bohemian Alto Vuelo — Te Atatu Reserves semi-final, which has been postponed till September 17.

Substitute Trent Mayes scored twice to fire Hibiscus Coast into the final, beating West Coast Rangers M1 Nation 3-1.

George Nevison had given Rangers the lead in the 34th minute but Mayes levelled a minute before the break, sending the teams into half-time tied 1-1 at Stanmore Bay Park.

In the second spell, Mayes put Coast ahead for the first time in the match, scoring in the 65th minute.

James Lawson made sure of the result, adding Coast’s third goal with four minutes left.
