Mike Hunter re-appointed as Bay Olympic’s women’s first team coach

Bay Olympic have re-appointed Mike Hunter as their women’s first-team coach for next season.

Olympic will play in the NRF Conference and plan to recruit new players as the club looks to further develop its programme for girls and youth players.

Hunter said: “It’s an exciting time for women’s football in New Zealand and hopefully it will encourage more younger girls to pick up the sport.

“We are already planning for next season as we compete in Conference and actively seeking new players.”

In addition to his first team role, Hunter will actively work within Bay Olympic’s girls/youth programme and the club is seeking coaches for its Youth Talent Development pathway and Girls Junior/Youth programme.

In its advertisement for coaches, the club says:

“Bay Olympic is seeking coaches for both our Youth Talent Development Pathway and Girls Junior/Youth programme delivering the Bay Olympic playing model and philosophy.

“Ideally, you will have the ability and personality to work collectively with our coaching team for the benefit of the programme overall.”

Time commitment

  • TDP Youth Training x3 per week Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, plus game.
  • Girls programme training x2 per week plus game.
  • Some additional tournaments required as per Junior / Youth calendar.
  • Session preparation / planning.

Minimum criteria

TDP Youth

  • Currently hold a NZF C Licence with coaching experience in youth football.

Girls Programme

  • Currently hold or working towards NZF JL3 and/or C Licence.

Coaching reimbursement

Reimbursement to be discussed with individual candidates.
