Tim Payne: ‘Phoenix now have to get used to travelling for away games’

posted in: Uncategorized

Wellington Phoenix defender Tim Payne says now the team is based on home soil, the players will have to get used to travelling across the Tasman Sea for away games.

“It’s just something we’ll have to deal with,” he says, ahead of his team’s first game on the road, against the Newcastle Jets at the weekend.

Speaking to a midweek media conference, All White Payne said the squad was “a little bit disappointed” that they had still to win a game in the A-League having had two home games to start the season.

“But, I think two draws from the start of the season is probably not our worst start in the last three years, and you have to take the positives from that.”

The focus now goes on the team’s first away game at Newcastle.
