Takapuna Cavs win bronze at Pan Pacific Masters games in Australia

Battling high temperatures, an over-45s team from Takapuna FC have won bronze at the Pan Pacific Masters games in Queensland.

A large contingent of players from Takapuna’s Cavaliers team, supported by partners, headed to the Over 50s tournament on the Gold Coast at Broadbeach.

They won their opening game 1-0 against Power Old Boys, and followed up with a 2-2 draw against Balmain after trailing 0-2.

A 2-0 win against Wahroonga put them at the top of the competition table after three games.

A 0-0 draw against lowly Boca Seniors proved costly, and conceding two late goals in the final pool game resulted in their only loss at the tournament, a 2-1 defeat to Burleigh.

Having missed a spot in the final by a point, the Takapuna side beat Balmain 1-0 in the play-off for bronze.
