Hamstring injury threatens Colloty’s two-week trial with Sheffield Wednesday

A hamstring injury may have jeopardised striker Oliver Colloty’s two-week trial with English League One club Sheffield Wednesday.

The 19-year-old New Zealand age group international has reportedly picked up the injury in the opening days of his stint with Wednesday, according to The Sheffield Star newspaper.

The newspaper said the injury “has thrown doubt over the remainder of the trial”.

Melville United forward Colloty, who jointly won the Golden Boot at last year’s OFC U-19 Championship, had headed for the United Kingdom after the conclusion of the men’s National League in search of opportunities at Sheffield Wednesday and an unnamed Premier League club.

The Star report said Colloty would likely have played a part in Wednesday’s up-coming U-21 games, including a match against Burnley this week.
