Football Fern Olivia Chance says her Celtic club have made “a massive call” in releasing her for the upcoming internationals against the world champion United States.
Celtic are chasing a Scottish league-cup double, with Chance playing a key role in midfield.
“It would be a dream to finish the Celtic season with the Scottish Cup and the league title,” she has told a media conference in Glasgow.
Celtic are currently third in the Scottish Women’s Premier League and have reached the fifth round in the Scottish Cup, a trophy they won last season.
“So far, the Scottish Cup final has been my favourite game in a Celtic shirt,” Chance said.
Despite the pressure on Celtic, the club has released Chance to play for New Zealand in January’s internationals against the United States, even though the games are outside the FIFA international window.
“I want to play for my national team at every opportunity I get,” Chance said.
“It’s a massive call from Celtic to support me as it’s obviously not during a FIFA window.
“My national team are really thankful that I’ll be released to be able to play those games.
“I’m looking forward to it and the World Cup is at home so it’s a big year for New Zealand football.”
