New Zealand and Tahiti were first-day winners at the OFC U-17 Championship tournament in Fiji.
New Zealand beat New Caledonia 3-2 while Tahiti overcame Vanuatu 2-1 in the first games in their respective groups.
The two finalists at the tournament will automatically qualify for November’s FIFA U-17 World Cup in Peru.
