Nottingham Forest are the latest English Premier League club reported to be interested in a January transfer window move for All Whites striker Chris Wood.
Under the banner ‘exclusive’, Football Insider claims Forest “are plotting a surprise move” for Wood (31) as manager Steve Cooper tries to bolster his squad to help clear the relegation zone.
Wood joined high-flying Newcastle United for £25 million last season but has mainly been used off the bench or as injury cover for strikers Alexander Isak and England international Callum Wilson.
Football Insider says: “The east Midlands club are exploring permanent and loan options for Wood.”
Late last year, Leeds United were reported to be showing interest in a deal to return Wood to Elland Road where he played before establishing himself as Burnley’s top goalscorer.
Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has spoken about Wood’s character and his importance on and off the pitch to his squad.
“He’s never let us down since the day he arrived at the football club. He’s a brilliant professional away from the pitch, very hardworking, and trains really well,” Howe said.
“Whenever we’ve called upon him, he’s always produced in terms of our tactical and pressing plans to the highest level.”
