Western Springs and Mount Albert Ponsonby sign partnership agreement

Leading Auckland clubs Western Springs and Mount Albert Ponsonby have announced a partnership in which they plan “to collaborate and provide support that individually and mutually benefits both clubs”.

The clubs have jointly announced they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding that aims to benefit their elite-level and community teams.

Western Springs men’s first team play in the Northern League while Mount Albert Ponsonby play one tier below, in the Lotto NRFL.

The Western Springs women’s team play in the Lotto NRFL Premier League and in the Women’s National League, while their partner club does not field a women’s team at elite level.

The clubs’ announcement says:

“As part of the club’s commitment to improving club capability and sustainability in the delivery of footballing outcomes at community and elite level, both clubs have agreed to collaborate and provide support that individually and mutually benefits both clubs.

“Some key areas identified in principle to explore and enable include:

  • Establishment of a cross-club player pathway approach that enables better outcomes for senior players and both clubs.
  • Discussion and support regarding operational setup, systems and processes.
  • Sharing coaching resources, ideas and learning and development opportunities.
