Updated: Ground closures during Auckland’s rain storms has meant a delay to the demonstration session for the launch of the Soccer Genius programme into New Zealand.

The demonstration session for the football coaching programme developed in Iceland will take place at West Coast Rangers’ Huapai Domain at 10am on Saturday February 11, 2023.

The session was originally scheduled for Thursday February 2.

The Soccer Genius programme is growing in popularity in the United States and Australia, and has been licensed for use in New Zealand by Soccer Plus.

Soccer Plus director Kim Beale says the programme works for all age groups and levels of ability.

He says it’s perfect for coaches to use to coach body shape, technique, decision-making, speed and other aspects of their game.

“The players can compare themselves, critique themselves, challenge themselves and improve themselves,” Beale says.

He said player performance is digitally measured and tested, giving accurate results.

Beale said the programme is used by young children to international footballers, and used by progressive clubs such as A-League’s Brisbane Roar who use it with their academy players.

Coaches from any club and from any level of ability are welcome to attend the demonstration session, Beale said.

Beale said he was initially trying to introduce the programme to clubs in the NRF and WaiBOP regions but would look broaden its geographic use as it rolled out.

Brisbane Roar are partners with Soccer Genius in Australia and explain why in the following video:
