National body to elect three members to its Executive Committee in April

Football’s national body will hold its annual congress in Wellington in late April, and seeks nominations for three positions on its Executive Committee.

New Zealand Football will hold an election to confirm their Executive Committee (ExCo) when they meet at the Rydges Wellington Airpot on Thursday April 27, 2023.

The process for nominations is explained in documents circulated by NZ Football, with the congress agenda.

Two ExCo positions will be elected from candidates put forward by NZ Football’s Nominations Panel.

A third position will be elected from candidates submitted by its Search Panel.

Nominations Panel

In accordance with article 1.1.26 of the NZF Statutes, the NZF Executive Committee has set up the Nominations Panel.

The Nominations Panel comprises:

  • Garth Gallaway, Honorary President, NZ Football
  • Aimee Barwick, Co-chair, Northern Region Football
  • Rod Pelosi, Chairman, NZF Referees Committee

The Nominations Panel will:

  • Consider nominations and provide Congress with a selection of candidates that reflects a range of experience and skills and a diversity of perspective and backgrounds, including gender and geography.
  • Identify and filter out candidates of doubtful and dubious character who pose a high risk to the governance of the game because of current and past behaviours, including criminal convictions and/or breaches of the NZF Code of Conduct.

Search Panel

In accordance with article 1.1.38 of the NZF Statutes, the NZF Executive Committee has set up the Search Panel.

The Search Panel comprises:

  • Garth Gallaway, Honorary President, NZ Football
  • Johanna Wood, President, NZ Football
  • Hugh Lindo, IOD Member

The Search Panel will:

  • Actively seek applications for the Executive Committee of NZ Football with a particular focus on: proven leadership and governance skills (both hard and soft skills) experience; skills and experiences that would complement those of
    the existing committee; and gender and geographical diversity.
  • Recommend at least one candidate for one Executive Committee position that is to be elected by Congress via the search panel process
  • Identify and filter out candidates of doubtful and dubious character who pose a high risk to the governance of the game because of current and past behaviour, including criminal convictions and/or breaches of the NZF Code of Conduct.

Electoral calendar

January 27, 2023
Call for elections, candidates and agenda items.

February 27, 2023
Deadline for submission of candidatures by NZF Members to the General Secretary, NZ Football.

March 27, 2023
Deadline for notification t the NZF voting members of the names of proposed and admitted candidates.

April 27, 2023
Congress is held and NZF Executive Committee elections take place.
