Fencibles seek new club secretary after long-serving Jeannine Melville steps down

Fencibles United seek a club secretary to take over from long-serving Jeannine Melville, who is standing down after 11 years of volunteering at the Auckland club.

The club has paid tribute to the contribution Melville has made at the club but says, “with any change comes an opportunity”.

“Fencibles are now reaching out to our community base to see if we have someone who is willing to give some time whilst helping to drive the club forward,” the club said.

“The secretary’s position is a coordination role that will require someone with good people skills, and they would be working together with our treasurer and our administrator.”

The club said Melville had held many roles at the club including secretary, administration manager, junior and youth boys/girls club captain, dishwasher, painter “and she has been a club mother to all of us”.

“Every club needs valuable volunteers like Jeannine as she is someone who never says no and is always committed to helping Fencibles be the best club it can be.”

Melville ‘has helped hundreds of kids in our community’

The club said Melville was stepping down to focus on work and family commitments.

“She will be a big loss to the Fencibles family as she has a huge amount of knowledge and understanding on what it takes to move a club forward.

“On behalf of Fencibles, we would like to sincerely thank Jeannine for giving so much to the club over the years — we know there are hundreds of kids in our community who she has helped over the years.

“We know that as you see Jeannine in our local community or around the club from time to time that you thank her for all of the work she has done to help Fencibles over the years.

How to apply

The club invites anyone interested in the vacant role of club secretary to contact [email protected].

“We are a great group of dedicated volunteers who understand that with any volunteer role, it needs to be fun and family orientated,” the club says.
