Napier City Rovers will stage an All Stars game as a showcase event for their upcoming 50th anniversary celebrations.

The match — between past players — will be staged as a curtain-raiser to the Central League match against Miramar Rangers at Bluewater Stadium on Sunday April 9, 2023.

Napier City Rovers plan three days of activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the club’s formation.

A dinner will be held on Easter Saturday, April 8, at Napier’s War Memorial Centre, a feature event for the reunion that will be held April 7-9.

The club says it will welcome back some of their past star players for interviews on the stage, with the first confirmed guest being goalkeeper Mark Paston whose penalty save helped the All Whites get to the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

The band Pulse will entertain guests, who will also hear interviews with past coaches and players.

The current club was formed by the merger of Napier Rovers and Napier City on February 6, 1973.
