Franklin United elect Shane Thomas as their new club president

Franklin United have elected Shane Thomas as their new club president.

Thomas, a Waiuku resident, was elected at United’s recent Annual General Meeting.

Formerly Waiuku’s Director of Junior Football, Thomas is an experienced junior coach with Waiuku AFC and Drury United, who took a break from coaching at the end of last year.

Accepting the role of president, Thomas (46) said:

“I am very happy and excited to take on this role at Franklin United.

“I am very passionate about football, especially football in South Auckland.

“I’m keen to push on with the good work that has done been so far, working towards having a club that offers the best possible football experience and education to all our motivated footballers, from juniors and youth through to the senior women and men.

“If you see me around the grounds, feel free to come and chat some football”’
