All Whites striker Chris Wood will miss the rest of the English Premier League season after his Nottingham Forest club confirmed he has a season-ending injury.

Wood (31) has made seven appearances for Forest since moving from Newcastle United but will be unavailable for his side’s 11 remaining fixtures.

Forest manager Steve Cooper said: “Chris Wood is out for the season.

“It’s just something we have to deal with; we’ll put our focus into the players who are available and who are training ready to play the next game and commit to them guys.”

Though not confirmed, the problem appears to be the thigh injury Wood picked up in Forest’s 3-1 loss to Tottenham Hotspur in March when he was forced to leave the pitch only six minutes after coming off the subs’ bench.

Wood traveled to New Zealand for the international window, and trained with the All Whites who played two games against China.

However, Wood was not able to play and returned to the United Kingdom between the two matches.

The All Whites’ next fixture is against Sweden on June 17.
