Otumoetai and Fencibles win Thursday’s floodlit games in women’s Championship

Second-half substitutions paid off for Otumoetai as they came from behind to beat Tauranga City 4-3 in a thrilling cross-town derby in the Lotto NRFL Women’s Championship.

Having switched the game from Sunday to play under lights at Links Ave, Otumoetai trailed the home side 2-1 at half-time.

But coach Jack Boland brought on five subs for the second half and they delivered three goals to win the match, with Taryn Holloway scoring twice and Grace Duncan adding her side’s fourth.

The win lifted Otumoetai off bottom place.

Fencibles United continued their winning form with a 6-0 rout of Central United.

They led 1-0 at the break but stormed home with five different scorers in the second spell.
