Phoenix can seal play-off spot with draw or better in final A-League fixture

The Wellington Phoenix can secure a top six men’s A-League play-off spot with a win or draw against bottom-placed Macarthur on Saturday.

But if they lose, fans of the Nix will face an agonising wait for results involving Perth Glory, Newcastle Jets and Western United, all of whom could get past the Wellington side with wins and a better goal difference.

Melbourne City have the top spot wrapped up but there’s still plenty to play for as clubs enter the 26th and final round of the isuzu-UTE’s regular fixture schedule.

Macarthur will host the Phoenix knowing a win gives them the chance to dodge the wooden spoon, providing Brisbane Roar don’t beat Melbourne Victory later on Saturday night.
