VIDEO: Could John Herdman still be in the running for the All Whites job?

A report on 1News suggests Canada’s national coach John Herdman could still be a contender for the vacant All Whites head coach’s job.

NZ Football CEO Andrew Pragnell told 1News an announcement on Danny Hay’s replacement will be made in May.

Asked if Herdman was out of the running, Pragnell did not rule out the former Football Ferns coach, despite Herdman recently declaring his commitment to stay with Canada.

“I know there’s been a lot of speculation on names and obviously, I’m not going into any individual candidate, but we are looking at the existing pool of candidates still,” Pragnell said.

Five candidates were understood to be on the shortlist for the national coaching job, including Herdman, current interim coach Danny Bazeley and Wellington Phoenix coach Ufuk Talay, who was turned down for the job.

“An announcement is imminent, we will make an announcement given the point we’re in now, in May, well in advance of the June international window where we will play two games up in Europe,” Pragnell said.
