Ferns midfielder Ria Percival on track to be fit for FIFA Women’s World Cup

Experienced midfielder Ria Percival is on track to be fit for New Zealand’s campaign at the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Having not played a competitive game for more than a year, Percival (33) came off the subs’ bench in the second half of Tottenham Hotspur’s 2-2 draw with Brighton in the weekend’s English Women’s Super League fixture.

The 160-cap Football Fern played out the last eight minutes of the game without a problem, completing her return from a serious knee injury.

After the match, she told the Tottenham Hotspur website:

“It was obviously a great moment for me, it’s been a tough year for me and the team this season, but to come on and try and make an impact and try and get a result, yeah, it was a good feeling.”

The Ferns’ next international is a friendly against Vietnam in Napier on Monday July 10.
