Dutch media reports say Wellington Phoenix’s leading goalscorer Oskar Zawada is a potential transfer target for SC Heerenveen who play in the Eredivisie, the top league in the Netherlands.

Zawada (27) scored 15 goals for the Phoenix in the just-completed men’s A-League season but has another year on his contract with the club.

A report in Leeuwarder Courant says SC Heerenveen have included Zawada in their list of options to replace striker Sydney van Hooijdonk who has returned to Italy’s Bologna after playing on loan for the Dutch side.

Polish-born Zawada has played in the Eredivisie before, with FC Twente who signed him from Vfl Wolfsburg in 2016.

He played 11 games for FC Twente but failed to find the net.

Zawada has completed a successful first season with the Phoenix, being named with Michaela Foster as the club’s players of the year, and being awards the players’, members’ and media players of the year.
