Ferns and top referee to take part in forum on development of women’s sport

Football Fern Michaela Foster will be part of a five-speaker panel at a free public event in Hamilton to discuss how far women’s sport has developed.

Foster will share the forum with FIFA referee Sarah Jones, former Football Fern Joy Howland, Olympian Sarah Cowley-Ross and Black Ferns veteran Renee Wickliffe.

Billed as ‘The Changing Dynamics of Gender in Sports’, the two-hour event will be held at K’aute Pasifika fale, 960 Victoria St, Hamilton, on Tuesday June 20, starting at 4.30pm.

Organisers are staging the event ahead of the FIFA Women’s World Cup which starts on July 20.

“In the spirit of “Going Beyond” we want to bring together and inspire women and girls to realise their potential,” they say.

“The panel will discuss their involvement in sport, as well as their personal pathways and experiences. This event will be a celebration of women’s sport, designed to inspire, uplift, and encourage women and girls to dream big!”
