WATCH: The incident that led to All Whites calling off game against Qatar

A brief exchange between two players sparked the controversial abandonment of New Zealand’s friendly international against Qatar after claims of racial abuse.

All Whites defender Michael Boxall says a Qatari player racially abused him shortly before half-time in the game played in Ritzling, Austria.

New Zealand captain Joe Bell remonstrated with Austrian referee Manuel Schüttengruber but no action was taken.

The All Whites decided not to take the pitch for the second half, forcing the abandonment of the game in which New Zealand were leading 1-0.
