VIDEO: Preview of Group A at the FIFA Women’s World Cup

New Zealand are rated a chance of getting their first-ever win at a FIFA Women’s World Cup but will struggle to qualify for the tournament’s knockout stages, says commentator Catherine Cannuli.

In an analysis of Group A, former Australian international Cannuli told KEEPUP’s YouTube channel:

“I really think they they can, you know, and being co-hosts and being at home and playing in front of friends and families, I think is going to really give them that extra push.

“It’s going to be tough for them to get through this group and and to make it through but I think on their side, if they do get a win at this World Cup, that’s a win situation for them again.

“You can’t underestimate any team coming into a World Cup but, you know, they’ve got the likes of Ali Riley as well, and her leadership skills, that’s going to be there to take them through the group.”

Asked by co-host and former Matilda Grace Gill who Cunnili thought would make it. out of Group A, she said:

“100%, I think Norway’s gone through,” she said.

Cunnili, who coaches the Western Sydney Wanderers in the women’s A-League, said she was tipping Philippines to be the ‘dark horse’ of the group and go through in second place.
