New Zealand Football have increased security measures to protect the Football Ferns for the rest of the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
This follows a second security scare in which the team were evacuated with other guests when fire broke out at their Pullman Hotel in Auckland on Saturday night.
On Thursday, the morning of the team’s opening game at the tournament, three men died and others were injured in a shooting in downtown Auckland.
Though neither incident was directly linked to the Ferns or the football tournament, NZ Football say the players will have more security than previously planned.
