Eastern Suburbs’ Olivia Page joins English Championship’s Sheffield United

Eastern Suburbs defender/midfielder and national age group international Olivia Page has signed with English Women’s Championship club Sheffield United.

Page (18) made three appearances at last year’s FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in India, and she was a member of Suburbs’ 2022 title-winning Women’s National League squad.

She told Sheffield United’s media team:

“I’m stoked. I’ve been really enjoying pre-season, the team has been really good in helping me settle in, and yeah, I’m really enjoying it.

“I’ve been in New Zealand my whole life. I’ve got family in England, and I just wanted to take my career to the next step. United is a really great football team, the growth they’re having is amazing, and they play a style I really like.”

Of his seventh summer signing, head coach Jonathan Morgan told the club’s website:

“Olivia came onto our radar last season. She’s a young player who has played for the New Zealand youth teams, and she’s showed a lot of maturity already here.

“We’re excited to see how she develops. She’s tall, powerful and has a good engine on her, and we’re looking forward to seeing how she takes to the English game.”
