Out-of-contract Wellington Phoenix midfielder Yan Sasse has been signed for three years by Tunisian club Espérance de Tunis.

The Brazilian joins Tunisia’s most successful club, having won 53 domestic trophies, including 32 Tunisian Professional League 1 titles, 15 Tunisian Cup titles, and 6 Tunisian Super Cup titles.

Sasse (26) was not offered a new contract by the Phoenix at the end of the last men’s A-League season.

In his time in Wellington, he scored two goals and made three assists in his 23 A-League appearances.

Announcing his signing, his new club said: “His ability to dribble, distribute precise passes and score goals will certainly be put to good use for the team’s next challenges.”
