New Zealand U-20 striker joins Auckland City for Men’s National League campaign

Former Melville United and Christchurch United forward Oliver Colloty will play for national champions Auckland City in this year’s Men’s National League.

Colloty (20) signed for Auckland City early this year but left for Europe without playing for the Navy Blues, to train with English club Barnsley and seek trials with other professional clubs.

The New Zealand U-20 international has returned to New Zealand in time for Auckland City’s last two Northern League fixtures and for the national competition which starts in September.

“Yeah, delighted to be here and to be playing for this club. Auckland City has such a good name around New Zealand and with how successful they’ve been it’s a club you want to be at so really happy to be here,” Colloty told Auckland City’s website.

“I just want to help the team as much as possible, I know they are doing so well at the moment and I just want to try and help them continue to do that, just take it game by game, tough game this weekend coming up, trying to win the Northern League and then onto the National League.”

Colloty scored 20 goals in 31 appearances for Melville United in the Northern League after joining the Waikato club from Christchurch United after the 2021 Southern League season.

He and strike partner Kian Donkers shared the Golden Boot as they helped New Zealand win the OFC U-19 Championship in 2022.
